LOVE Fray. She does have it all over Buffy and, as a girl, she's perfect for this thread.

But she's white too, y'know.

I'm not sure if Romani make the cut to this thread, but here's Gipsy, a futuristic comic created by some European team, that focuses on a Roma trucker, his sister and a hot sorcerer. They travel a lot so we see all sorts of people. It features a good deal of nudity (not enough to be porn, though) and it brings up a lot of diversity of genre too. I think it's still ongoing. (I just have a couple of trades).

Chew. The main character is John Chu and he's a detective who has a secret power. Whatever he eats, he gains the history of what he eats. He'll find out where the apple was picked from, etc. So imagine the hilarity when he's hit a wall and he has to eat a piece of a person for info. This book is fantastic from writing to art and I highly recommend it.

It really sound like a clever power storytellin-wise. I'm really tempted there. Good to see you, Greg.

I enjoy Chew, waiting to see if there's anything he won't take a bite out of.

Actually, I don't know if Malaka((Fray)) is actually white or not. Well, she may be caucasian, but my main Joss site said she's from Versai...? But her sister's blonde?

I dunno...
I NOW ACTUALLY HAVE THE STATIC COMIC BOOKS... RICK (a.k.a. Richie, for the TV show) IS STILL MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER! ... Only he doesn't really talk for a long time... and Frieda is still annoying.

I love Joss Whedon but he doesn't create non-white lead characters. Only supporting cast. Fray is white.

Kurt Busiek is one of the bright lights in this arena but his ASTRO CITY both addressed and "fixed" this problem right off the top.

I'm throwing my hat in to write a JAck-in-the-Box mini if he ever opens it up but his current THE DARK AGE storyline has to be read to be believed.

I buy. I was a bit disappointed with Busiek because my first impression of his talent comes from his Trinity weekly series , which sucked, but I'm willing to give AC a try.

That's one hell of a cover and character design, by the way.
