Great movies aren't guaranteed just by the characters. There are a 100 DC heroes who deserve it though...

I just don't like the idea. I don't know if the movie will be good or not but my prediction is it will fail (opinion, not fact).

I think it will be hard to do it in a realistic/not cheesy way.

It probably won't be realistic.

It just won't work. Lobo's a cool character but who will the villain be? The plot? To me, he works like a secondary character.

Well I haven't read a lobo comic but they do exist. He will probably be hired to eliminate some alien. I'm sure they could make it work.
